Here is a little history about St Patrick's Day:
Saint Patrick lived in the fifth century. He is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. He was taken as a slave to Ireland but later escaped. Saint Patrick eventually returned to Ireland and spread the word about Christianity. Through time, mythology surrounding his life became more and more important to Irish culture. It is said that he explained the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with the three leaves of a native Irish clover called the shamrock. It has become a feast day to celebrate St Patrick. The First parade wasn't held in Ireland, but in the United States. The parade took place on March 17, 1762. It was a group of Irish soldiers serving in the United States army. The parade was for the soldiers to reconnect to their Irish roots.
